Super Bowl Halftime In Houston

<
>

Oh gosh. It’s that time of year again. Rustin has been in Houston for almost a full two weeks working on the big halftime show. I’m currently on a plane to meet up with him and hope that I’ll get to see Lady Gaga. Can I just tell you how flippin’ excited I am? I may pass out. I admire and respect her so much. In her interviews you can tell she has a giant heart of gold.

Last year I was also lucky enough to be able to see Coldplay, Bruno, and Bey from the field and it was exhilarating! Walking out of the tunnel with the entertainers, dancers, Bruno! and as the entirety of the stadium revealed itself and all of the people on the bleachers is something that is truly indescribable. Just being a part of that energy is something I truly treasure and I’m looking forward to experience all that again TOMORROW!

The last two weeks have been straight up hard at home though. I mean there’s no faking the funk, but it was even harder to leave my boys behind today. It always is, but this time really got to me. Gavo was having a really hard time with me leaving so we had a little video game night yesterday and pigged out on pizza on popcorn just like he wanted. When he was a teeny guy video games were our thing so having one night dedicated to him was a the very least I could do for that tenderhearted love of my life. That kid rules my entire world. I’m missing my boys an awful lot right now. But also, I can’t wait to wrap my arms around my love. I’ve been missing him something awful too.

Well, that’s all I’ve got. I’m about to fall asleep and I hope I don’t snore or drool on my seat mate. I literally have two cups of coffee sitting on my tray right now.

Have a safe and fun Super Bowl Sunday with your family and friends! See you on the flip side! Xoxo!

Oh Christmas Tree

<
>

One of our favorite traditions is choosing the perfect tree.  There’s the usual banter about price, height, derpyness and at the end of it both me and Rus just agree with whatever Gavo chooses (or the other way around). I could go on and on about what we do, or I can just show you. :) Rustin has started vlogging over on his Youtube channel, so go subscribe and try to keep up with our chaos! Happy Friday friends!

Chicago!

So it’s been a crazy Fall/Winter. Oliver has needed more of my time right now so I took a little break from blogging and social media to really focus on him and the boys. I was finding myself looking at my screens more often than they deserved, but more on that later! Elliot is WALKING! WALKING. He is walking. If I wasn’t exhilarated by all his cuteness, I would cry. Christmas is going to be cute overload. And Gavo, oh my Gavo. He amazes me every day. We had a conference with his teacher not too long ago and (not to brag, ok maybe a little) he is reading and comprehending at a FOURTH GRADE level. Yea, he’s in second grade. Just omg. His goal is to read 50 books before school is over so we’ve been reading, reading, reading!

Rus and I went to a packaging expo in Chicago about a month ago and we had the best time! I’m in love with Chicago and I can’t wait to take my boys. I got on a subway for the first time in my life! And had real deep dish pizza! And oh, the falling in love with my husband all over again. Rus made a little video of our trip. It’s a little long, but I find myself watching it over and over to relive the memories. :)

Hope you’re all having a happy Thursday! Xoxo.

Celebrating With The Fam

<
>

It’s very rare for me and Rus to celebrate anything these days, even though we have plenty to celebrate. Like so many tired parents out there the opportunity just doesn’t present itself, or it’s “not worth” the hassle of wrangling everyone. That seriously sucks! When we received good news a few days ago, I realized that I (I!) could take my family out for dinner. This, you guys, is a big why(!) I’ve been working so hard. Of why it was important for me to have a nanny and spend time away from my kids, which never made the family goals list I’ll tell you! But when I realized that, I felt so proud and like I had really made it. I could finally treat my family! So we did. We took the boys out to a teppanyaki style restaurant (which Oliver loved!), and of course, I had to get just a little dressed up.

For the most part, I don’t wear heels when I have the boys. I could handle it with one *maybe* two, but all three? Um, no. Unless it’s a wedding then the rules change but otherwise, yea no. So it’s important for me to find a way to incorporate a skirt and cute top with the casualness that comes with being a mom. Sometimes I rely on my wedges for a bit of height, but this time I really felt like the lace ups gave this whole outfit a new approach. I felt put together without feeling like I was trying so hard, and more importantly, like I could handle anything my kids threw at me… literally. The bonus was being able to just enjoy the entire dinner with my family. I can’t wait to have more of these fun outings with them, but most importantly include them in our celebrations from now on. :) Happy Friday friends!

Island Park

janey-jessen (1 of 1)

We’ve been spending a lot of our summer at my in-laws cabin in Island Park, ID. It’s so pretty out there! We bought a couple of 4 Wheelers and spent a few days riding around in the mountains. To say Oliver LOVES going on “rides” is an understatement! That boy is all about extreme sports, lol. We couldn’t get him off and when we would come back for lunch he would eat and head back outside for another ride. I didn’t grow up around these type of toys so being able to experience this with my family is so fun. My nephews have a couple of dirt bikes and I had to ride them around, I may try to convince Rus to find me one because I was pretty hooked. I did manage to lay the bike down a couple of times but bruises heal even if they’re not pretty, lol! I love having a bunch of boys around us, they push me to try things I wouldn’t have done on my own. Like owning an airsoft gun. The last time we were up there me, Rus, and my 3 nephews had a little airsoft war and they just pummeled us. At one point I had all 3 of them just raining down on me and I still have a few welts leftover. So I went ahead and bought myself one and practiced at home before heading back up. Let’s just say, we’re all on an even playing field now.

We got home two days ago, and now we are on our way to Vegas for some R&R by the pool. I can’t wait. My boys could be in a pool all day long. It’s such a departure from my norm, I wasn’t much a pool person but now that my babies just want to play in it I’ve turned a corner. I’m also super stoked to see my family, I was about 6 months pregnant the last time I saw them. I can’t wait for them to meet Elliot.

I hope you’re summer has been super fun! Happy Tuesday friends!

Happy Birthday Oliver!

<
>

I can’t believe my baby is two years old! He is such a little firecracker and the owner of my whole heart! We took him to the zoo for his birthday. He had so much fun, and it was SO nice to dote on only him for several hours. I think he liked it too! :) He is both extremely shy and extremely outgoing, there’s no gray area with him. He’s hot and cold, and can flip in a blink. He is unpredictable. Nobody has ever kept me on my toes like this little rascal has. He frustrates me and then throws me into a fit of laughter in one breath. I love that about him. He’s my sunshine; he lights up my whole world and keeps my insides nice and warm.

I love you my little sunshine. Please don’t ever change. I’m so proud of the little person you already are and I can’t wait to see what you do next… today, tomorrow and forever. Mama loves you. Xoxo.

Happy Birthday Rus!

<
>

A couple weeks ago we celebrated Rustin’s birthday. He doesn’t like to make a big deal about it, which goes against every fiber of my being, so we kept it low key. His mom (basically my adoptive mom, she has totally taken me under her wing) called me about a week before his birthday to let me know that she got him an introductory flying lesson and wanted to make sure he didn’t have any work related conflicts on the day of his class. I was a little worried because he had been super stressing about the Billboard Music Awards going well, and he still hadn’t heard if he was going to be traveling that week, but I promised her I would do my best to keep that day clear for him. That weekend I highly encouraged him to work (which he is absolutely against) just to stay on top of things in case it gets crazy when the rest of the team arrives. Surprisingly, he took the bait and worked for a night but I still texted his mom and told her he was up against deadlines and needed to be on call that day.  I was scared he would regret doing the flight lesson and I didn’t want that to happen. Anyways, things worked out perfectly! The team was happy when they arrived and they barely needed him, which allowed him to have fun during his flight!

I am so lucky to be a part of this man’s life. He is my favorite person and best dad ever! Happy birthday love! Xoxo!

Mother’s Day

<
>

These 3 little people are my whole everything. I am so honored to love these boys every day. They are the most amazing people I’ve ever met and I am so grateful that I get to be their mama. I’ve been on a trip the last few days and I can’t wait to get home and cover these boys with hugs and kisses!

Just A Day At Home

<
>

This is us most days, just chillin’ at home. These are some of my favorite days, when the boys are getting along and there’s nowhere to be; when we can just stay in comfy clothes and enjoy some time together. This is one of many reasons why I’m ready for summer. It’s just barely getting warm here but we get outside as soon as the sun starts shining. The boys (and myself) are SO ready to spend our time outside in shorts and tees. Last year Gavo and I left little sidewalk messages in chalk when we would go for a walk. It could simply be a heart or a “Have a good day” but it made us feel good and it gave us a reason to just go out and explore our neighborhood a little bit. It became a fun little game to find new places to leave “Happy Notes” for our neighbors. I’m hoping we can do that again this year and include Oliver this time. He won’t understand what we’re doing, but he does like to color so there’s that. :) Every little bit of happiness helps. Life is rough and any small encouragement for a stranger is sometimes all it takes to make them feel noticed and loved. Xoxo!

Anniversary Family Date

<
>

During spring break (and for me and Rustin’s 8th marriage anniversary) we took the boys to the Museum of Natural Curiosity. They had a really good time, I only wish I had brought my sneakers along to keep up with all of them! Sometimes I feel like I have to pick a side, do I play with the older one that can climb and play in the bigger kids’ area, or do I stick with the babies and just hang at the toddler areas? Rustin and I had to totally divide and conquer as he sat with Elliot most of the time and I took Gavo and Oliver around as best I could. We really did have a great time. It’s not often we get to just go and experience something new these days, especially with Gavo being in school. But the boys did have a great time and it was fun to see how Oliver interacted with new kids… meaning, I should probably socialize that little cutie more often! Haha! We will definitely have more chances for that this summer and as Elliot gets older it will only get easier. :) Happy Spring everyone! I hope you’re all enjoying the warmer weather! Xoxo!
